THE HOUSE: The house is situated in the small village of Benest, between Ruffec & Confolens. This provides an excellent base for relaxation and touring in the beautiful Charente, Vienne and Limousin regions.
Accommodation at 'La Roche' is comfortable and your hosts, Linda & Andy Shepherd, make every effort to help their guests feel at home.
The bedrooms are all on the first floor. Each has a wash basin, chest of drawers and hanging space for clothes. The bathroom and separate toilet are downstairs.
All areas of the house are available for guests to enjoy except those that are marked 'private'. Breakfast is served in the kitchen, and the optional evening meal is served in the dining room.  Lunches are not available, but there are facilities for guests to store and serve their own food during the day. The village has a boulangerie, bar restaurant and post office.
For those who enjoy nothing more than having time to read, there are plenty of books available on shelves throughout the house. These range from light fiction to theology.

THE GARDEN: Guests are welcome to stay around the house during the day, and to use the garden as a space to unwind. The right-hand side of the garden is reserved for quiet prayer and reflection.

At the rear of the house there is a large balcony over-looking the garden and surrounding countryside, which is also available for guests to use.

MEALS: A continental breakfast is included in the price of your room. Andy & Linda both enjoy cooking, so opting to eat 'en-famille' in the evening is a very pleasurable way to relax after a busy day.  Aperitifs are served from about 20h.00 and the meal begins around 20h.30, although these times can be flexible. The opportunity to share experiences with us and with other guests makes a pleasant end to the day.
Experience has shown that this can be a lengthy evening! Families with small children may wish to settle them earlier. If so, then a simpler meal can be prepared for them  before 18h.00 (by arrangement at the time of booking).

LEISURE: There are swimming pools at Confolens, Ruffec and Chasseneuil. Canoeing, river trips and riding are available nearby, and keen anglers will find plenty of fishing. The area is ideal for cycling and walking.
